Samsung Adds Touch Of Colour To LCD Monitor

Samsung has revealed the new 70 series LCD monitors with Touch of Color (ToC) design. The new line of LCDs includes the P2070, P2370, and P2370HD. These slim LCD monitors have screen depths of 30 mm for the P2070 and P2370 and 65.5mm for the P2370HD.
The Samsung 70 series features:

  • Thin 30mm screen depth (65.5mm – P2370HD)
  • High contrast ratio of 50,000:1
  • Full HD 1080p (1920×1080) resolution (1600×900 – P2070)
  • Fast 2ms (GTG) video response time (5ms – P2370HD)
  • Reduced power consumption
  • Touch of Color (ToC™) technology
  • VOC-free Crystal-like bezel frame to help reduce glare
  • Starlight Touch Controls
  • Built-in 1080p digital HDTV tuner; 5ms (GTG) video response time and HDMI input (P2370HD)

First Third-party Mac Cinema Displays With Mini DisplayPort

Collins America based in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced the first non Apple LCD monitors (CinemaView) that uses the Mini Display Port standard. The first three models will be available before September 1st, 2009. Priced from $299 for a 19 inch model to $499 for the 24 inch.

CinemaView LCD will come with 3 USB 2.0 ports and 3.5mm stereo audio jack but no matte screen.

Samsung P2370L LCD Looks Slick And Thin

Samsung’s new slim and good looking LCD (P2370L) features a LED backlight, a depth of just 0.65-inches, LED Blu, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1080p native resolution, 2ms response time, DVI input, a swivel stand and touch sensitive controls.

All these features for the price of $400.

LG Sunlight Illuminated LCD Display

LG has revealed a 14.1 inch LCD panel for notebooks that is illuminated by sunlight instead of the backlight unit when used outdoors. This sunlight LCD panel will be shown at the CES 2009. LG sunlight illuminated LCD display reduces power consumption by 75% when outdoors.

World’s Smallest Projector

Hong Kong based Earth Trek released the world’s smallest projector measuring 105×58x25mm and weighing 160g. The 90-805R mini projector has a SD card, built-in lithium battery which last 1-2 hours, built-in speaker, MP4 player, and provides a 22 inch diagonal projection.

See Through Clothes Scanners At LAX And JFK

The Transportation Security Administration launched the installation of millimeter wave whole-body scanners ($150,000 each) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The images are black and white and bear little resemblance to a photograph. Nevertheless, they clearly display the most intimate curves of the human form.

Bridgestone Shows Off Largest Colour e-Paper

Bridgestone has developed the world’s thinnest bendable full-colour electronic paper. The new e-paper is just 0.29mm thick, about a fifth that of the firm’s earlier product, and the screen measures 8 inches. It is capable of displaying 4,096 colours at 80dpi resolution.
