Earth Displayed In 121-megapixel Photo
This is a new single shot image of Earth taken 22,369 miles away by the Russian weather satellite Elektro-L No.1. This Earth photo is very different to any you have seen before as the satellite uses visible and infrared wavelengths of light to gather the colours.
Supermoon Seen By Millions
A supermoon was seen on May 6 by millions where the Moon appears up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than when it is furthest from the planet. The moon was at its fullest at 11:35 p.m. EDT just after hitting perigee. When the Moon appears at its biggest it will be just 356,400km away, compared to its usual distance from Earth of 384,000km.
Waterfalls Flow Upwards In Sydney, Australia
This week winds were so strong (120km/h) on the southern coast of Sydney that waterfalls were running upwards. High surf warning has been issued with waves expected to reach 5m (16ft).
Hawaii Bans Shark Fin Soup
Hawaii government has signed a bill on Friday prohibiting the possession, sale, trade or distribution of shark fins, which are used in expensive Chinese dishes. Shark fin soup is a delicacy, served in high-end Chinese restaurants in soup and as fillets in gravy.

UN Claims About Himalayan Glaciers Disappearing By 2035 Not True
The Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) has admitted its mistake in asserting that Himalayan glaciers could disappear by 2035. The unsubstantiated Himalayan glacier melt figures were used intentionally despite the report’s lead author knowing there were no data to back them up. The UN is now saying it is an accident that they have made this mistake. Yeah right, we smell a bogus claim for research grant.

Blue Moon Appearing On New Years Eve
According to astronomers, the New Year 2010 will be ushered in alongside a rare blue moon. The next blue moon will appear in 2028. Will it really be blue?
Here is the definition, a blue moon means a 13th full moon and this is a numerological blue moon. So the moon will not be technically blue.

Coke Will Turn Green
Coca-Cola will start using 100% HFC-free (hydrofluorocarbon-free) vending machines and coolers by 2015. HFCs have been shown to affect the ozone layer.
Coke’s Chief Executive Muhtar Kent said … our company, which sells everything from soda and juice drinks to water, will replace hydrofluorocarbon, also known as HFC, in its new vending machines and coolers by 2015. Our hope is that our initial investments will trigger adoption by other companies in the food and beverage industry.

NASA Says World Will Not End In 2012
NASA has created a FAQ page to tell people in 2012 will not end like the movie of the same name.
From the NASA FAQ:
Question (Q): Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.
Answer (A): Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012. Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012.
Snows Of Kilimanjaro Melting Fast
The snows of Kilimanjaro are melting really fast and will be gone by 2033 as predicted by a new research done by Ohio State University’s paleoclimatologist Lonnie Thompson.
Thompson said, The fact that so many glaciers throughout the tropics and subtropics are showing similar responses suggests an underlying common cause. The increase of Earth’s near surface temperatures, coupled with even greater increases in the mid- to upper-tropical troposphere, as documented in recent decades, would at least partially explain.
