Apple might be removing Google Maps from iOS 6 and this will be revealed in Apple WDDC 2012 in June 2012. There will be a new 3-D mapping mode exclusively powered by C3 Technologies, and would provide beautiful, realistic 3-D graphics. This would replace Google Maps’ Street View or satellite view feature. Check out the video about this.

Google has just updated its Google+ iPhone app that features crisper fonts, larger profile pics and a friendlier home-screen. In addition, Google make the stream easier to scan and easier on the eyes, with overlays, gradients and other visual elements.

Apple has released an update for OS X Lion to 10.7.4. One of the major bug fixed is for  the FileVault bug where it allows for the creation of a system-wide debug file that displays user credentials including passwords in plain text. Luckily it only affects user  who carried over their FileVault settings from OS X Snow Leopard to Lion.

The 10.7.4 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac including fixes that:

• Resolve an issue where the “Reopen windows when logging back in” setting is always enabled
• Improve compatibility with certain British third-party USB keyboards
• Address an issue that may prevent files from being saved to a server
• Improve the reliability of copying files to an SMB server

Apple updated iOS software today to new version, iOS 5.1.1. It is meant to fix a few minor bugs within the OS, affecting all iPads, iPhones 3GS, 4 and 4S, and third and fourth generations of the iPod Touch.

• Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
• Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
• Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances

• Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

Adobe has announced Creative Suite 6. The CS6 product line includes new releases of Photoshop, InDesign, lllustrator, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Flash Professional and other products as well as four suite versions, Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium; Creative Suite 6 Design Standard; Creative Suite 6 Production Premium; and Creative Suite 6 Master Collection. Adobe also debuts two new video-related software packages, Prelude and SpeedGrade.

Adobe has announced that its Creative Cloud subscription service—widely expected to be available simultaneously with CS6—will now be released on May 11.

Creative Suite 6 is a killer release with hundreds of new capabilities rolling up to four focus areas:

• Application Performance. The Mercury performance work we started a couple years ago has now made its way to our imaging, video and illustration tools.
• Enhanced User Interface. Our tools are increasingly enabling direct, on-canvas editing of your content.

Due to Apple’s popularity, hackers are now targeting Apple OS with malware. The latest Flashback malware due to Java vulnerability. Apple is developing its own Flashback malware removal tool.

Microsoft dramatically redesigned the Windows 8 logo to make it more bland and looks like a window. Microsoft hired high-powered design consultancy Pentagram to come up with the new look. And it looks like it is waste of money. What do you think of the new Windows 8 logo?

A hacker by the name of YamaTough has released the source code for antivirus firm Symantec’s pcAnywhere utility prompting fears that others could find security holes in the product and attempt takeovers of customer computers.

Symantec spokesman Cris Paden said:
Symantec was prepared for the code to be posted at some point and has developed and distributed a series of patches since January 23rd to protect our users against known vulnerabilities.

Microsoft has unleashed Office 15 into a technical preview and it is codenamed Office 15.

A federal judge dismissed Novell’s $1-billion federal antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft over Wordperfect after jurors said they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Bill Gates was put on trial for 2 days last month for this.

Novell sued Microsoft in 2004, claiming the company has duped it into developing the once-popular WordPerfect writing program for Windows 95 only to pull the plug so Microsoft could gain market share with Office.
