New Apple Patent Can Disable Jailbroken iPhone, iPad Remotely
Apple has filed a patent application for technology that would restrict unauthorized users’ access or jailbreaking to a mobile device such as an iPhone or a tablet such as the iPad.
Apple patent Application number 20100207721 was filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office on August 19. Other than disabling jailbroken Apple devices, the patent also contain innovative security feature to detect unauthorised used, gather forensic data, detect mode of travel and suspicious activity.
Apple To Release New iPad In Early 2011
The latest rumour is that Apple will release the mini iPad powered by an ARM Cortex A9–based processor with an IPS display of 1024-by-768 pixel resolution by first quarter of 2011. The resolution is the same as the current iPad, so all your iPads will display the same on the mini iPad.
The update to the current iPad will also be release at the same time and it will have 512MB of RAM, up from the current 256MB and thus helping to support the multitasking capabilities of iOS 4.
Apple iPad 2 Will Have Camera
There are now evidence that Apple will add camera feature onto the next version of iPad. The discovery was made from Apple’s iPad management policies document. Users were dismayed when the current iPad do not have a front facing camera which can be use for Skype and other photo taking apps.
BlackPad: RIM’S Answer to Apple’s iPad
Research In Motion (RIM) the maker of Blackberry is about to come up with BlackPad touch-screen tablet. BlackPad will feature 9.7 inch screen, back and front cameras, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and access to Blackberry App World. Can it compete with Apple’s iPad as shown above running Pulse.
The tablet will retail at $499 for the basic model.
Cheap $35 Indian Tablet Is Not Ready For The World
Kapil Sibal, India’s Minister for Human Resource Development, reveals a prototype tablet that will sell for $35. The low-cost computing device that is designed for students features a Linux-based operating system, a USB port, a 2 GB memory card, a web browser, multimedia player, PDF reader, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing ability.
This is a good initiative as poorer students will have a chance to obtain this tablet in India. But why would manufacturer want to deal with thinner profit margins?
Blackberry Tablet Revealed
Another company following the tablet bandwagon, and this time it is Blackberry with their tablet running on OS 6. The Blackberry tablet will be powered by a 1 GHz Marvell processor, will run Flash, slide out keyboard and two cameras for video conferencing.
Microsoft Steve Ballmer Says Windows 7 Tablet Is Only Months Away
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that Windows 7 Slate tablets and smart phones will be out in the next few months. Ballmer made the announcement during his keynote speech at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington, D.C.
The tablets will be built by Dell, Samsung, and Toshiba.
New York Times Asked Apple To Take Down Pulse Newsreader For iPad
The Pulse app for iPad has been praised by Steve Jobs and yet it has been taken down after a request from New York Times. Why? Because the app is showing NYT news feed.

Microsoft Steve Ballmer Says PC Will Thrive
Apple CEO Steve Jobs has this week declared the end of the post PC era with the iPad/tablet overtaking PCs. Now it is Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmers to put in his craziness by declaring the opposite and claims the future is all PC.
From NYT: I think people are going to be using PCs in greater and greater numbers for years to come. The PC as we know it will continue to morph. The real question is what are you going to push. To a man with a hammer everything looks like a nail; we have a hammer. Peddling Chrome and Android, two different operating systems, makes no sense.
Adobe Venture Into iPad With Magazine Viewer
Apple may have banned Adobe Flash on the iPad tablet, but that did not stop Adobe from creating a new digital viewer technology, aimed to help publishers convert their magazines to an interactive format viewable on portable devices.
Adobe’s new InDesign CS5 layout software can create a digital version of a magazine, and distribute the content packaged with a viewer. The viewer features any number of special effects in navigation, animation, and other user interface features.
The same viewer technology has been used in the yet released iPad version of the Wired magazine. Check out the video.
