Obama Picks First Black NASA Chief

US President Obama chose a former Marine aviator and space shuttle astronaut Charles Boldento Jr as the new head of NASA. The deputy is Lori Garver, a former NASA official and space adviser to the Obama campaign. Charles F. Bolden Jr. will become the first African American to run NASA once it is approved by the senate.
Obama said, These talented individuals will help put NASA on course to boldly push the boundaries of science, aeronautics and exploration in the 21st century and ensure the long-term vibrancy of America’s space program.

Update: Amazon Kindle DX

In a few more hours, Amazon is going to launch a new, larger version of its e-book reader Kindle to be used for textbooks, newspapers and magazines. It will be known as Kindle DX and it has a 9.7-inch display which is 2 inch larger than a Kindle.
Amazon has been working with textbook publishers to make their textbooks available for the device. This will allow Amazon to gain into the $9 billion textbooks market. Other features are full browser, PDF enabled,
But Amazon’s effort will go to waste when Apple releases the a tablet-style computer later this year.

Flying Car Takes Flight
Terrafugia revealed the first flight of its Transition Roadable Aircraft Proof of Concept. Or you can call it the “flying car”, the Transition is a two-seat aircraft designed to take off and land at local airports and drive on any road. Transforming from plane to car takes the pilot less than 30 seconds.
Carl Dietrich, CEO of Terrafugia said, This breakthrough changes the world of personal mobility. Travel now becomes a hassle-free integrated land-air experience. It’s what aviation enthusiasts have been striving for since 1918.
The flying car will be available around 2011 and will cost about $193,000.

Fujitsu FLEPia First Colour eBook
Fujitsu Frontech Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited have revealed the world’s first color eBook, FLEPia. This device is the first ever mobile information terminal to feature color electronic paper.
The FLEPia features 8-inch display screen capable of showing up to 260,000 colors in high-definition, Bluetooth, WiFi, 40 hours battery life and 4Gb storage from SD card (5,000 conventional paper-based books). It will be on sale in Japan on April 20 for US$1,010.

Japan’s Next Top Robot Model

Japanese researchers have launched a new fashion robot, model HRP-4C, that will soon do the Tokyo catwalk in Fashion Week.
Standing at is 5′2″ tall, the average height of women in Japan, has a 95 pound body, the robot boasts 42 motion motors programmed to mimic the movements of human fashion models. This robotic model cost $2 million.
Obama Removed Bush’s Ban On Stem Cell Research

US President Obama has announced a restore on work with embryonic stem cells as part of a government-wide push for scientific integrity. Obama has lifted Bush-era restrictions on federal funding of stem cell research which was ethically driven.
This shows that Obama’s commitment to science. But his action has immediately came under attack from antiabortion groups and Republican congressional leaders.
