XBox 360 New Dashboard

At E3 2008, Microsoft has revealed the new upcoming XBox 360 dashboard which Microsoft is calling the New XBox Experience. So what is new? Find the all the new features after the jump.
What Is It? From the moment you turn on your Xbox 360 system, you’re invited into a limitless world of home entertainment — courtesy of the new Xbox experience. It’s a world where the best games, movies and TV shows live side by side with your personal pictures and music library, and the experience is ready to share anytime with friends in your living room or across the globe through Xbox LIVE. This new Xbox experience brings an inviting look and feel to Xbox 360 that is fun, social and simple to use.
The new Xbox experience is your entertainment experience. It delivers your entertainment when you want it, how you want it and with whom you want. In the mood for holding movie night on Sunday, being a game show contestant on Monday, catching up on episodes of your favorite TV show on Tuesday, hosting a party to show off your newest photos on Thursday, and playing some video games on Friday? It’s all possible through the new Xbox experience:
- Watch the theatrical cut of “Blade Runner” live with friends in your living room or across the U.S. with instant access to 10,000 movies from Netflix.
- Jump into a game of “1 vs. 100,” a new spin on the game show experience with instant at-home play, on the new Xbox LIVE channel, Xbox LIVE Primetime.
- Download “30 Rock” or “The Office,” as well as favorite standard and high-definition TV shows and movies from NBC Universal and Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Enjoy more movies and TV shows on demand than on any other device connected to the TV — all via Xbox LIVE Video Store.
- Hear the real-time laughter of your friends and family when they see that picture of you in a Speedo in Hawaii during a LIVE online party you host.
- Tune your diva skills by playing “Lips,” engage in a massive online “Gears of War” campaign or download classic arcade games with the best and broadest lineup of video games available only from Xbox 360.
Plus, really make it your own with customizable, animated Avatars that let you literally jump into the world of Xbox 360. Just imagine, your Avatar, your friend’s Avatars and the Avatars of nearly 100 other Xbox LIVE members meeting face to face in a game of “1 vs. 100” on Xbox LIVE Primetime. Now every entertainment experience can be a shared social experience on Xbox 360, home of the best and broadest video games lineup and more movies and TV shows on demand than any other device connected to the TV.
What Are the New Features? New features of the Xbox experience include the following:
Make it a Netflix night. Xbox 360 is the only game console to offer more than 10,000 feature films and television shows from Netflix, available instantly through Xbox LIVE and at no additional charge to all Xbox LIVE Gold members with a Netflix subscription.
Get ready for primetime. Xbox LIVE Primetime, a new channel on Xbox LIVE, transforms Xbox 360 entertainment. For the first time in video game history, people can come together on Xbox LIVE to play game shows such as “1 vs. 100” with real hosts, fresh content and prizes just like the games seen on TV. “1 vs. 100” comes from Endemol, the world’s largest independent production company and producers of the hit show “Deal or No Deal.” The game show “1 vs. 100” pits one player against “The Mob.” The player’s goal is to eliminate all the opposition by correctly answering questions, hoping that the opponents will answer incorrectly and be eliminated from the game.
Get the party started. Xbox 360 is the only device that allows you to create a virtual party with your friends with LIVE Party. Now, every experience is a shared experience. Play a game with up to eight friends. Voice chat while watching a movie or a favorite episode of “The Office.” Share pictures or play an online game show with the chance to win real prizes. The new Xbox experience makes entertainment an interactive event.
Express yourself. Personalize your entertainment like never before with a customizable, animated Avatar designed exclusively by the creative geniuses at Rare Ltd. Dress your Avatar and jump into a party with friends from around the world. Whether you assume an alter ego or just be yourself, your Avatar allows you to express yourself no matter where you go in the new experience.
Online entertainment center. The new Xbox 360 experience offers more online entertainment from one remote than you can find from any device that connects to the television. Xbox LIVE Marketplace is a one-stop digital download center for entertainment, including exclusive game demos and trailers as well as hours of downloadable music videos, movies, television shows and casual games.
How Do I Get It? The new Xbox experience is available this fall through a free download to anyone with an Xbox 360 system, a broadband connection and a storage device of either a hard drive or 256MB memory unit or larger. Complete system requirements are available at http://xbox.com/live. It represents the first time in history that a mass-market consumer electronics device has been re-launched through free software, giving people more fun and intuitive ways to interact, play and enjoy entertainment content.

This is HORSE$#!+ If I wanted a kiddie interface and kiddie avatars I would have bought a Wii! If this is what’s forced on us in the fall then I’m trading in both my 360’s for a PS3! Micro$ucks is totally alienating the hardcore gamer! And don’t give me that crap about the blade interface still being accessible with the guide button. It’s not the same blade interface. This is the interface you’ll see when you first boot up your Xbox 360 and it makes me feel like puking! THANKS FOR RUINING MY GAMING MICRO$UCKS! IDIOTS!

I Dont Like the new dashboard, Yet the dashboard does need a make-over, at the moment its very bland, I Think every game should have a unique dashboard and you choose your default one
on July 19th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I think the new dashboard is retarded as hell. first of all it looks kiddie and it seems like they are almost copying off what nintendo made for the wii. then what about all the theams and shit i wasted money on if thats gonna be the new dash board then i cant even use the theams i have anymore and even if you still have the sliders for the sub menu your still not gonna see the backgrounds. and its also more resoures being wasted for nothing shit i dont know if i want to get the new update

You guys are real dumbasses. If u dont want the avatars, dont use it u faggots?
I love the new dashboard and i think it looks more elegant and professional than the old 1. The new features are amazing, and comparing it to my ps3 it certainly looks better, and the features are way ahead of the playstation system.
About the avatars, ive got a wii, but hardly play it, the avatars would be cool but i wouldnt use it like a mii. I am pro to designing a character that looks like me, cos i cant be bothered to buy a live vision camera to let other people see how i look like.
Wetall there are themes for this new dashboard. They showed one with a gears of war 2 theme and it looks IMPRESSIVE. So maybe do some more research b4 u chat shit

Are you guys really going to this riled up over a game interface , Stop being so infantile xbox is trying to market to a younger crowd, some of may not like it but if you read it right there giving us the option to use the classic dashboard. So get the heck over it and stop swearng to prove your points.

I only bought this POS xbox 360 because Microsoft cornered the market and bought the rights to all of the popular games (Halo, Gears of War etc.) and i still hate it. I LOVE PLAYSTATION AND WILL NEVER FORGET THE FACT THAT THEY CARE ABOUT THE PRODUCT THEY PUT OUT. (xbox, first the red rings of death, then the small-ass fan they thought would work in their system, then the fact that its so damn loud and freezes up) when i had the PS2 it was pure smoothivity, pure fun, no system errors, or failed loaded maps like on the xbox.
Now we have to deal with Microsoft stealing ideas again?! wth. each system should have its own unique quality. PS3 is stable, elegant, a graphical processing powerhouse, and its the flagship. PS3 is the BMWish Mercades of the industry, nintendo is the fun quirky company, they are the Saabs of the gaming industry. Under-rated but hella fun. Now xbox, they are genius in cornering the market, stealing ideas, and buying rights to things because they know if Halo was out for the PS3 we would be all over it. xbox is like the jaguar, the kia, the geo of the gaming industry.
Xbox, i wont be downloading your wii-inspired interface, i hate you xbox, and how your forcing the market like we are a bunch of cows. Trust your steam will run dry. PS3 & Nintendo Wii keep up the innovative work in producing quality product that doesn’t emulate each other. Props.

i like the look of it but they should include a option to go back to the old dash aswell for all you complainers but it removes the adverts in all your blades
on July 22nd, 2008 at 10:53 pm
the new dash looks to simplify the layout of all the features, which i like, because the old one has many overlapping items and often difficult to find options, it’s currently a bit overcrowded for what it is.. i agree that the avatar feature seems stolen from the wii, and i hope to god it can be turned off.
as for sony caring more about the product they put out (as Lockean Thinker said), that’s complete and utter rubbish. while yes the 360 gets the three red lights due to poor hardware manufacturing, microsoft confronted it and extended the warrenty including a refund for anyone who paid to have it repaired in a ms service centre before then.. with what i do i see lots of consoles of all kinds pass through, and the highest death rate for consoles is somewhere between playstation and ps2. both of them have serious laser wear problems which cause them to die just outside warrenty when used by a serious gamer. i have gone through two ps2’s, and before the laser died on one, i had already had to repair the motherboard after the fan driver circuit died.. also the laser in the display unit ps3 at my local gametraders died about 8 months ago, which even with the extreme use it was getting, is a very poor effort, as it was only 6 months old. sony have never admitted to poor build quality in any way as far as i know, which is why you dont know about it. which in my opinion shows microsoft care more, even given their mistakes. but in the end no big companys really care, theyre all just cranking their profits the best way they know how.
i guess that went off topic, sorry.

I agree

I would like to personally thump the creators forehead and tell him to wake the hell up
THIS IS NOT XBOX. However, atleast they were decent enough to give us the option of which to have.
but I insist in saying that this new dashboard is NOT XBOX

as if the new interface is going to affect your gaming experience so you see something different when you turn on the game but when it comes down to it you dont buy the xbox for the interface you buy it so you could play badass games like call of duty or halo so suck it up and if you don’t like the new interface turn it off and play the games
