Concept can be simplified to diversify audience, would appreciate open dialoge to explore more options.

Concept? How about something useful for a change. Add thumbdrive with Adobe reader and I can view large schematics while doing onsite repairs.

Now that, my friend, will be a move in the profitable direction. Someone has to stop this junk production and get serious about products than can be used for more than a game or web surf.

Let’s say this actually comes out…
How are you going to pitch it to people?
Here! It’s more expensive than a mobile phone and it’ll about as much as a newspaper?!
If I understood it correctly it has no ports at all except probably a power plug.
This would be intelligent if it had 1 USB port and 1 card socket. I’m not saying terribly usefull, but it would at least be hackable…

Some wi-fi is already in, but add a 3G or WAP connection or some other form of acting as a mobile phone… Maybe even a jack for headphones…

It’s much further from your original; “SIMPLE” concept; BUT it has a shining hope.

    See it this way.
Would you spend $300 on an easilly breakable smudgy little mobile browser? Also even if someone says “Yes” to this one; those people are also going to ask about battery life.

I like it. Perfect for my coffee table where I can easily reach it to check news, weather, IMDB when I wonder about the movie I’m watching, the web interface to my various servers when I think to do something, the movie times.

It looks like an elegant little pad to carry into the server room to check (assumming ssh, rdp etc is supported) repairs and modifications are proceeding with less bulk than a laptop/notebook.

Read the news on the deck having breakfeast, a story in bed in comfort.

The thing I don’t see which I think would make such a thing all the better is easy charging. Having any knd of cable is a pain and another power cable in the living room would be annoying – best mitigated by a pleasant stand or charging pad. I wish there was a induction charging standard that could be built into things like coffee tables/sideboards where such devices could just be placed and automatically charged.

The various browser applications available today that could be used on this thing make it a powerhouse. Most desktop applications have browser ports that are close in performance. You don’t need an HDD, you can just store your files on a fileserver and use browser apps to access them. I would love something like this.

This is cool, you dont’ need hard drives you can save everything with online storage or bookmarks, even productivity software is available as online applications, forget the past, the future is here and its online applications. No more harddrives. or ports. If you need that much stuff, stick with a computer on your desk.

This is an attractive device for a certain niche of people who only want to web surf. There have been already some very good points made about it’s shortcomings however, no card slots, usb’s, NO SPEAKERS or even a jack for ear buds, which makes it useless for watching any kind of video including Youtube and such. So it’s great if you’re a gawker and only want to look at things. Otherwise not much use for it. What this thing is, is an attempt to make a larger iTouch device but it falls way short of that. For $300 in today’s economy and with low employment, people expect a little more for that kind of money. Touch screen technology has been here long enough to make it cheap, they’ve been working on flexible touch screens for years now so what the hell is the $300 paying for in this device?

Hey, not a bad price at all for what you’re getting. That being said, in comparison to other devices on the market, like some other posters have already noted, I’m not sure there’s much use for the thing.
