Intel Launches 4th Gen Core Processors And Atom For Smartphone
Intel revealed upcoming processors such as the low power versions of the company’s “Haswell” fourth generation Core series CPUs. These processors are rumoured to be used for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air refreshes for 2013.
The 4th gen Core family of processors are the first to be designed specifically for the Ultrabook and it will bring the most significant battery life improvement boasting 9 to 13 hours of continuous on-the-go use.
Intel is also rolling out a new Atom-based SoC designed for smartphones in emerging markets. The processor is a single-core solution, like Medfield, but with the clock speed topping out at 1.2GHz. Despite being single-core, the Z2420 support Intel hyper-threading, and it will still be able to execute two threads simultaneously.
