NASA Astronauts Fixed Ammonia Leak Via Spacewalk

US astronauts Thomas Marshburn and Christopher Cassidy have replaced a pump on a spacewalk to fix a leak of ammonia from the International Space Station’s cooling system. It took them 5 hours to replace a 60-pound pump box which NASA suspected was the source of the leaking ammonia coolant.

It is now rumoured that the next console from Microsoft will be branded XBox Infinity. Microsoft has bought XBox8 domain name. The Xbox Infinity branding or Xbox∞ looks like an inverted 8 of Windows 8. Microsoft will reveal all on May 21st.

Google Adds Push Notification To Chrome

Google adds its Cloud Messaging push notification to Chrome and Chrome OS which allows Chrome apps and extension developers to wake up their apps remotely and/or send alerts to users. Developers will have to build the feature into their apps before anyone sees the benefits.

Nokia Lumia 928 Windows Smartphone Revealed

Verizon announced the new Nokia Lumia 928 for $99.99 and it will be available on May 16. This Nokia smartphone will feature a large 4.5-inch AMOLED screen along with an 8.7-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and xenon flash.

Other features included are NFC, plastic body, wireless charging, connects to Big Red’s 4G LTE network for fast data and more.

Bacteria Used To Fight Malaria

Michigan State University researchers have found the transmission of malaria via mosquitoes to humans can be interrupted by using a strain of the bacteria Wolbachia in the insects. Wolbachia bacteria is used to produce insects that could pass the infection on to their offspring. Female mosquitoes that carried Wolbachia also bred with uninfected mates. So Wolbachia would act as a vaccine for mosquitoes that would protect them from malaria parasites.

US Government Bans Blueprint Of 3D Printed Gun

The US government has demanded the removal of all files which allow users to 3D-print their own unregistered gun at home.

The blueprint has so far been downloaded more than 100,000 times since Defense Distributed. The functional plastic guns have been reportedly manufactured by the founder of Defense Distributed, Cody Wilson.

GMail App Bypasses Apple iOS Linkages

Google update GMail app on the iOS devices to link from third party app to Chrome and back again with a simple tap. Google uses a new OpenInChromeController module which bypasses Apple’s restrictions. Once developers incorporate the new module, it will open links from the app in Google Chrome, provided that the user has Chrome for iOS installed.

Syria Cuts Off Internet Access

Syria has cut off internet access on Tuesday and Google is showing none of their services are available in the country. It has also been reported that landline and mobile phone services are down in the country.

The Syrian government has blamed the ongoing incident on terrorists is due to internet access and therefore cut it off for their citizens. Internet access in Syria was switched off last November for around 48 hours too.

YouTube Revealing Paid Subscriptions

Google is going to reveal a new paid subscriptions for YouTube. Google is seen to move beyond its main advertising revenue stream. Google could launch the new service next week, with up to 50 YouTube channels offering subscriptions to video content from $1.99 a month.

Amazon Launches App Store In China

Amazon has beat Google to it in launching its Android Appstore in China. It is the first western company to offer a platform for Chinese users to download both free and paid apps. Currently Google Play store only offers free apps in China.
