Ugly Creative Zen Mosaic

What is Creative thinking here? They could not compete with Apple iPods and their latest release of the Creative Zen will not help sales either. The Zen Mosaic have a 1.8 in display, 2 to 8 Gb drive, FM tuner, 32 hours battery life and mp3/wma/wav/jpg/bmp files support. It is now available from $60 to $80. We are seriously not going to recommend this player and will not provide any links to it.

I have to agree with the above …. ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ besides cost and durability must be a consideration for anyone giving a serious and unbiased review of any product.

late last night I found my Mosaic after losing it on 10th November – more than a week ago – I found it on the garden path and it had been out in the rain and strong winds since then with no shelter whatsoever. It was water logged – even the screen resembled a fish tank. After a gentle drying out and a bit of a recharge it is working 100% with no data lost..(even the headphones work!)

Out of 10 my scores would be

Looks: 6/10 I opted for the plain black cover
Cost: 10/10 at £30.00 it’s great for anyone who hasn’t got a lot of money to spend on themselves
    Durability: 10/10
Easy of use: 6/10 I am a bit of a technophobe and I’m still learning
Quality of sound: 10/10 I have no problems, although my son – a musician assures me that all digital sound quality is poor in comparison with Vinyl !
Visual: 10/10 is as clear as anything I have seen.
Support: 2/10 not great , you get a measly quick user start up guide anything beyond that you need to access a computer program for and if you struggle doing that you can try to contact technical support except if it does not recognise your e-mail address , if this happens then you have to resort to sending a letter!!!!

While I agree that the Zen Mosaic is horribly unattractive, it is a well-made, reliable, and feature-rich mp3 player that offers far more bang-for-the-buck than the iPod. To go so far as to “seriously” not recommend it without so much as a review, and to also refuse to put up any informational links to it is a sadly and surprisingly superficial position from a site professing to provide “obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and cutting-edge consumer electronics”. The entire purpose of reporting and “coverage” is to go beneath the surface and provide the readers with more information than that which can be gleamed from a picture, headline, or hearsay. To that end you have failed here. Unfortunate.

I think that the Mozaic looks quite cool and my favourite feature is that it has a built in speaker which is pretty loud. Not only is is cheaper ( i got an 8gb version for £60) and smaller than an ipod it is also easier to use! No faffing around with itunes you can just drag and drop. I truly think that the Mozaic is an i-pod killer and anyone who doesnt like ipods but wants an mp3 should get a creative zen Mozaic.

First off, before you make a Bullcrap review of a player, buy it. Then you’ll know how much better it is than an iPod. Second, It’s design is BEAUTIFUL. I’ve gotten numerous compliments on how beautiful it is. Third, the name makes more sense. iPod sounds like a freakin’ alien ship name from the apocalypse, and Zen sounds like the relaxation and joy that you can get from music.

    Get you’re sh*t straight.

    And what are you thinking?!
Beautiful or not – it is personal choice and taste!
    Technically…please!!!
First – it is perfect, firmware is smooth going and easily updatable.
And second and MOST IMPORTANT – APPLE’S PLAYERS SUCK IN SOUND!!! THEY SOUND DREADFULLY AWFUL! Buy a Mosaic and combine it with AKG K324P headphones and we will talk again…or try it with AKG K55 or 66 or 124STUDIO. Creative use an op-amp engine that has it’s origin in Burr-Brown low noise OPAMPS. And this puts them in my top ranks. Sorry, but apple do not know shit about driving headphones!
    Please try! Please!

I actually bought this BECAUSE I liked the way it looked. And because it has a cool name. I just happened to luck out with the awesome sound (even with cheap headphones), and the easy to read screen, and the simple menus, and the convenient, loud built-in speaker… My only complaint is that I have yet to figure out Creative Centrale. I’ve read that adding music to this device is incredibly simple, however, so I must just be reading too much into the process…
