New Human Species Found
Scientists have discovered two partial skeletons in South Africa that are of a new hominid species Australopithecus sediba on the evolutionary path toward modern humans aka Homo sapiens. The skeletons are from a male of 8 or 9 years and a female about 20 years.
The skeletons are said to fall between Lucy (Australopithecus afarensis), dating from 3 million years ago, and the Homo erectus dating from 1.5 million years ago.
