Ralph Lauren Guilty Of Shrinking Filippa Hamilton’s Waist
Now this is a typical what not to do on Photoshop and was first reported by Photoshop Disaster. The Ralph Lauren ad shows model Filipa Hamilton’s waist has been shrunk smaller than her head. You can clearly make some comparison by looking at the model’s real figure on the catwalk (photo on the left).
Ralph Lauren sent a DMCA takedown notice to BoingBoing for posting the photo. BoingBoing said the reproduction falls under fair use and can be reproduced “for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting,” etc.
From ABC News, Ralph Lauren acknowledged that the image had been modified. For over 42 years we have built a brand based on quality and integrity. After further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman’s body. We have addressed the problem and going forward will take every precaution to ensure that the caliber of our artwork represents our brand appropriately.
