Kapil Sibal, India’s Minister for Human Resource Development, reveals a prototype tablet that will sell for $35. The low-cost computing device that is designed for students features a Linux-based operating system, a USB port, a 2 GB memory card, a web browser, multimedia player, PDF reader, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing ability.

This is a good initiative as poorer students will have a chance to obtain this tablet in India. But why would manufacturer want to deal with thinner profit margins?

I want one just to see what people can actually make in this day and age for 35 dollars, honestly thats the price of a cheap family meal at a restaurant. I want to have one shipped over here (canada) just to check it out
