Palm Feeling The Heat From Apple’s Warning

Since Apple’s statement of “iTunes: About unsupported third-party digital media players”, Palm is feeling the heat from letting the Palm Pre sync with iTunes. Palm Pre users will soon loose the capability of syncing with iTunes once Apple update the software.
Here is Palm’s response to Apple’s threat: Palm’s media sync works with the current version of iTunes. If Apple chooses to disable media sync in a future version of iTunes, it will be a direct blow to their users who will be deprived of a seamless synchronization experience. However, people will have options. They can stay with the iTunes version that works to sync their music on their Pre, they can transfer the music via USB, and there are other third-party applications we could consider.
First Look: iPhone 3.0 Operating System

Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 3.0 operating system is now out on iTunes with a 230Mb download. This is a free software update for the iPhone, for the iPod Touch it will cost you around $10 to upgrade.
After the update we can see the screens have been changed, the first screen on the left is the new spotlight search and the entire system seems to be faster. The new Spotlight search will allow you to find your calendar, contacts, e-mail applications and the names of applications.
The next exciting feature we looked at is the cute, copy and paste functionality. This feature has been missing from iPhone 3G when it first came out. We tried this on the Notes app. You can now select entire blocks of web text with a tap. A bubble will appear asking you to either Cut or Copy, and a box appears for you to cover your text. Go to another app and double tap to paste text. Great functionality which is also on Palm Pre.
The other to die for functionality is landscape mode keyboard typing for e-mail, SMS, Safari and Notes applications.
Now you can also select which SMS message you want to delete or forward.
iPhone 3G S will add Auto-focus camera lens, video recording and editing, and voice control.
You can check out all the new features on the Apple website: http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
