Scientists Identify Remains Of King Richard III

Rresearchers revealed that the skeletal remains found under a parking lot in a English Midlands city were those of King Richard III. He is the medieval king portrayed by Shakespeare as a homicidal tyrant who killed his two young nephews in order to ascend the throne.

DNA from the bones, matches that of a living descendant of the monarch’s two modern-day descendants.

DNA Revealed New Human Species

An international team of scientists have discovered ancient human through analysis of DNA from a finger bone unearthed in the Denisova cave situated on Altai Mountains of southern Siberia. The findings reported on Nature journal indicates that the Denisova human species shared a common ancestor with modern humans and Neanderthals about one million years ago.

Scientists Create Synthetic Genome

Scientist Craig Venter has crafted a bacterial genome from scratch, moving one step closer to creating entirely synthetic life forms. He had used laboratory chemicals to recreate an almost exact copy of the genetic material found inside a tiny bacterium (Mycoplasma genitalium). For the layman, he basically created artificial life in the lab.
