Facebook has secured a patent “Dynamically providing a news feed about users of a social network” for their news feed feature. The patent’s existence could mean stopping other social networks, such as Twitter and floundering MySpace, from allowing members to share news updates.
Facebook Status Replaces Teen Blogging
A new study has shown that young adults are no longer interested in blogging to keep in touch with friends and now is opting for Facebook and Twitter to do the same function.

Since 2006, blogging has dropped among teens and young adults while simultaneously rising among older adults. As the tools and technology embedded in social networking sites change, and use of the sites continues to grow, youth may be exchanging ‘macro-blogging’ for microblogging with status updates.
Facebook Revamped Website To Celebrate 6th Birthday
Facebook celebrated its 6 years old birthday with a website facelift. This is the first major homepage revamp since last October.

Privacy Groups Complain To FTC About Facebook

Users have complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about Facebook’s new privacy policies that violate federal law. Most of the complaints are directed at the default privacy setting on Facebook now opens users status updates to the entire Web, unless they proactively takes steps to modify the settings.
The new privacy settings has recently exposed personal photos of the 25 years old Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Google And Facebook Likes Tiny URL

Google’s new goo.gl service shortens the size of long Web addresses (URL) into a few characters, making them easier to share, tweet, e-mail and link to with friends and associates. Google URL Shortener is only available from the Google Toolbar and FeedBurner.
Facebook is also venturing with URL shortener, which will initially focus on its mobile application. Currently, the popular social network site is testing this feature.
Facebook Mark Zuckerberg Denies Privacy Faux Pas

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has denied being exposed by Facebook’s revamped privacy settings, after photos on his profile were left for public viewing. He said, I set some of my content to be more private, but I didn’t see a need to limit visibility of pics with my friends, family or my teddy bear
. If his photos are for public viewing, why is it closed off now?

Facebook Changes Privacy Options Again

Due to user backlash of the recent changes to Facebook privacy settings, the popular social network has updated the settings again. Now users can protect the contents of the Friends List from becoming public.
From Facebook blog: In response to your feedback, we’ve improved the Friend List visibility option described below. Now when you uncheck the “Show my friends on my profile” option in the Friends box on your profile, your Friend List won’t appear on your profile regardless of whether people are viewing it while logged into Facebook or logged out. This information is still publicly available, however, and can be accessed by applications. Thanks again for your comments and suggestions.

Facebook Launches New Privacy

Facebook Adding More Privacy

Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg posted an open letter to all of the site’s 350 million users regarding new security and privacy controls. The changes are regional networks would be disbanded for the sake of its users privacy.

You’ll see a message that will explain the changes and take you to a page where you can update your settings. When you’re finished, we’ll show you a confirmation page so you can make sure you chose the right settings for you.
