Hawaiian Island Oahu Dissolving

New research shoed that Hawaiian Islands are eroding due to the groundwater under the islands working to dissolve the island from within. It was predicted that the mountains on Oahu will eventually be completely leveled and end up as flat as Midway Island.

Geologist and professor Steve Nelson explained, “All of the Hawaiian Islands are made of just one kind of rock. The weathering rates are variable, too, because rainfall is so variable, so it’s a great natural laboratory.”

Hawaii Bans Shark Fin Soup

Hawaii government has signed a bill on Friday prohibiting the possession, sale, trade or distribution of shark fins, which are used in expensive Chinese dishes. Shark fin soup is a delicacy, served in high-end Chinese restaurants in soup and as fillets in gravy.
