Microsoft Removes HD DVD Player From XBox 360

Microsoft has officially announced that it will ceased making HD DVD players for XBox 360 after the announcement of Toshiba admit defeat to Blu-ray.

Blair Westlake, a corporate vice president of Microsoft’s media and entertainment group, said HD DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room, along with playback of the DVD movies they already own.

HD DVD Finally Laid To Rest Forever

HD DVD suffered the same consequences as the Betamax in 1980. The HD format war has finally ended with the announcement of Toshiba pulling the plug of HD DVD. Blu-ray can now run free and champion the HD Format.

Wal-Mart Drops HD DVD For Blu-Ray

Wal-Mart has decided to exclusively sell HD DVDs in the Blu-Ray format, following the trend of earlier defectors Best Buy and Netflix. This would deliver a crippling blow to the rival HD DVD technology backed by Toshiba Corp.

XBox 360 HD DVD Now $130

Microsoft has slashed $50 off the price of the HD DVD add on for the XBox 360 console. We are not surprise since the announcement of Warner Bros that it has sided exclusively with Blu-ray. New Line and HBO follow suit and move to the Blu-ray camp.

Well maybe there will be a Blu-ray drive for the XBox 360 later in the year.
