Samsung Takes On Apple iPad With Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is a new, Android-based tablet that competes directly with Apple’s iPad. The tablet is smaller than the iPad at 7 inch with a 1,024 by 600-pixel display, running Android 2.2 “Froyo” and Adobe Flash Player 10.1. It also features a 1 GHz Cortex processor, 512 MB of RAM, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3 megapixel front-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel user-facing camera for video chat, 32 GB of flash storage, microSD slot for up to 32 GB of additional removable storage, 3G connectivity, and DivX certified.

Apple Unveiling New Products On September 1

Apple has sent a guitar designed invitation to the media, inviting them to attend the new products announcement event. The media centric event will happen tomorrow on September 1 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, Sans Fransisco.

What will Apple announce? It has to be the new iPod Touch, new iPod Nano with touch screen instead of click wheel, rebranded iTV previously Apple TV, 99¢ TV rentals, iTunes Cloud, longer music sample time (90s) on iTunes, and 7 inch iPad.

New Apple Patent Can Disable Jailbroken iPhone, iPad Remotely

Apple has filed a patent application for technology that would restrict unauthorized users’ access or jailbreaking to a mobile device such as an iPhone or a tablet such as the iPad.

Apple patent Application number 20100207721 was filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office on August 19. Other than disabling jailbroken Apple devices, the patent also contain innovative security feature to detect unauthorised used, gather forensic data, detect mode of travel and suspicious activity.

Apple Fixed PDF Flaw In iOS 4.0.2 – No More Jailbreaking?

Apple has released an update for iPhone and iPad with iOS 4.0.2 which effectively closing the PDF flaw which allowed hackers access to the internal code of those devices. The exploit was central to the jailbreakme.com hacking the iPhone 4.

Apple To Release New iPad In Early 2011

The latest rumour is that Apple will release the mini iPad powered by an ARM Cortex A9–based processor with an IPS display of 1024-by-768 pixel resolution by first quarter of 2011. The resolution is the same as the current iPad, so all your iPads will display the same on the mini iPad.

The update to the current iPad will also be release at the same time and it will have 512MB of RAM, up from the current 256MB and thus helping to support the multitasking capabilities of iOS 4.

Apple iPad 2 Will Have Camera

There are now evidence that Apple will add camera feature onto the next version of iPad. The discovery was made from Apple’s iPad management policies document. Users were dismayed when the current iPad do not have a front facing camera which can be use for Skype and other photo taking apps.

Firefox App For iPad, iPhone Is Out

Mozilla has released the Firefox app called Firefox Home for Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

What does the app do:

Amazon Adds Video And Audio To Kindle App For iPad, iPhone

Amazon has updated their Kindle app for ebook with multimedia features, with books that can play back audio and video when you view them on Apple’s iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. Starting toady, some Kindle e-books include full video playback as well as embedded audio.

New York Times Asked Apple To Take Down Pulse Newsreader For iPad

The Pulse app for iPad has been praised by Steve Jobs and yet it has been taken down after a request from New York Times. Why? Because the app is showing NYT news feed.

From Wired: The Pulse News Reader app, makes commercial use of the NYTimes.com and Boston.com RSS feeds, in violation of their Terms of Use*. Thus, the use of our content is unlicensed. The app also frames the NYTimes.com and Boston.com websites in violation of their respective Terms of Use. I note that the app is delivered with the NYTimes.com RSS feed preloaded, which is prominently featured in the screen shots used to sell the app on iTunes.
