Apple Refreshing Mac Pro
Apple has previously abandon updating their Mac Pro range of computers after several updates to MacBook Pro, iMacs and MacBook Air. We now have news that Apple will be rolling out a refreshed line of Mac Pros some time in April. Apple has already stop selling Mac Pro in Europe.
Apple New MacBook Airs And Mac Pro
Apple also updated MacBook Airs and Mac Pro other than the big announcements for the MacBook Pro, iOS 6 and Mountain Lion.
MacBook Airs will be updated with Ivy Bridge 2.0 GHz dual-core i7 CPUs, 8Gb Ram, 512Gb flash drive storage, USB 3, Thunderbolt, Facetime HD camera and 60% faster graphics with Intel Graphics 4000.
The Mac Pro line will be updated with 3.2 GHz Quad Core Xeon processor, 6Gb Ram, and the rest remains the same. Price starts at $2499. Apple will no longer sell the 8-core model. The 12-core model will feature 2x 6-core Xeons and 12Gb Ram. This model will cost $3799.
From Apple:
The 11-inch MacBook Air comes with a 1.7 GHz processor, 4GB of memory and is available with 64GB of flash storage starting at $999 (US), and 128GB of flash storage starting at $1,099 (US). The 13-inch MacBook Air comes with a 1.8 GHz processor, 4GB of memory and is available with 128GB of flash storage starting at $1199 (US), and 256GB of flash storage starting at $1,499 (US).
Apple MacBook Pro 2012 May Not Be Thinner And No Retina Display
According to the poster on Chinese Forum, WeiPhone, the 15-inch MacBook Pro will not have the thin enclosure as for MacBook Air. The new MBP will have either 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz or 2.7GHz Ivy Bridge processors, a Nvidia’s GeForce GT 650M graphics card with 1GB GDDR5 graphics memory and no Retina Display.
So looks like in today’s WDDC 2012, Apple will announce a new MBP 15 inch which has the same look as the last version.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will be on June 11 in San Francisco. Here is what we think Apple will reveal for WDDC 2012 on Monday:
- Thinner MacBook Pro 15 inch. More info about this below.
- Refreshed MacBook Air with retina display.
- iMac, Mac Pro and Mac Mini upgrades with Intel Ivy Bridge.
- Apple TV.
- iOS 6 without Google Map and replaced with Apple 3D Map.
The rumour of Apple releasing a new thinner MacBook Pro running Intel Ivy Bridge chipset is now more concrete with these leak specifications for 15 inch MBP:
- 0.74 inches thick and weighing 4.7 pounds (almost as thin as MacBook Air)
- four USB 3.0 ports
- 2560×1600 high-resolution Retina
- 16GB of 1600MHz DD3 RAM
- 750GB of hard disk drive space
- AMD Radeon HD 7770M graphics processor
- FaceTime HD camera
- Thunderbolt port
- Bluetooth 4.0
- SDXC card slot
- FireWire and Ethernet port.
