Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 9 Platform Preview
Microsoft wants you to abandon Internet Explorer 6 due to security reasons and upgrade to IE8 or IE7. Now Microsoft wants to compete with Firefox, Safari and Chrome by releasing the platform preview for IE9. The ninth version of the browser is said to have optimized performance and HTML 5 support.
From Microsoft IEBlog: In IE9, we’re doing for the rest of the platform what we did for CSS 2.1 in IE8. IE8 delivered a high-quality CSS 2.1 implementation, sticking to the standard, and looking to other implementations in places where the standard is ambiguous. Developers should expect more from across the industry on this front in order to make HTML5 applications easier for developers to write.
Microsoft Windows 7 Phone Has Motion Controller, XBox Live, Netflix
Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series has the revamped Windows Phone Marketplace. The phone will also include popular movie rental service, Netflix where you can stream videos to the phone using Silverlight.
As for Windows phone gaming, XBox Live is included where you can unlock achievements, increase your gamer score, access leaderboards, and connect to your friends.
HP Flashes Slate To Trump Apple’s iPad
Hewlett-Packard is releasing a tablet PC running Microsoft Windows 7 that is capable of supporting Adobe Flash. HP claims that their tablet will offer a more complete computing experience than Apple’s iPad. At this point in time there are not much details of the technical specifications. Check out the videos.
Microsoft Steve Ballmer On The Cloud
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer suggest that the company’s strategy moving forward will focus primarily on the cloud. That is his prediction for the future of computing. He gave the speech at the University of Washington.
Ballmer said. “For the cloud, we’re all in.“

Microsoft IE6 Will Die On March 13
First YouTube will and support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 on March 13. A Denver web design firm, Aten Design Group, has announced offered a short obituary and invite you to the wake.
From the IE6 Funeral website: Internet Explorer Six, resident of the interwebs for over 8 years, died the morning of March 1, 2010 in Mountain View, California, as a result of a workplace injury sustained at the headquarters of Google, Inc. Internet Explorer Six, known to friends and family as “IE6,” is survived by son Internet Explorer Seven, and grand-daughter Internet Explorer Eight.
Microsoft-Yahoo Search Deal Gets Green Light
Antitrust regulators in the U.S. and European Commission have given the green light to allow Yahoo to use Microsoft Bing search for a slice of ad revenue. Yahoo will focus on attracting big advertisers and share the revenue with Microsoft.
Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz said, Yahoo gets to do what we do best: combine our science and technology with compelling content to build personally relevant online experiences to our users and customers.
Microsoft Unveils Windows 7 Phone Series
Microsoft has revealed the new Windows 7 Phone Series operating system which focus more on user experience rather than the applications. The OS features: Zune and Xbox Live content, support for Bing searches, new “Hubs” concept for organizing and using mobile content and services, a Start screen with configurable dynamic “tiles”, and more.
Bill Gates Did Not Like Apple’s iPad
Microsoft has not many success with tablets in the past and it did not take long for Bill Gates to voice his opinion of Steve Job’s iPad.

Amazon Buys Touchco And A Microsoft Executive
Amazon is planning to best Apple’s iPad by buying touchscreen vendor Touchco and Microsoft marketing veteran Mike Nash. Touchco technology is made for color transparent displays, is low power, and is inexpensive, costing as little as $10 a square foot.
