Russia has banned sales of Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3 and XBox 360, because it contains a scene in which civilians are massacred at a Moscow airport terrorist attack. Infinity Ward is working on a patch that would remove that particular mission from the game.

Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 rakes in $310M in one day of sales in the North America and the United Kingdom. PC gamers have been whinging (complaining) that they are not getting dedicated servers with this new game. This has not slow down sale whatsoever.

It is the biggest-selling launch in the history of entertainment.

Activision Not Concern With Modern Warfare 2 PC User Outrage

Modern Warfare 2 will be out on November 10 for Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. The PC fans have been unhappy after Infinity Ward and Activision announced that PC gamers will have no client side dedicated server support. Activision says that they are not overly concerned over the complaints.

Activision President Mike Griffith says, We think one of the problems with our PC (releases) on this title in the past is that it has not been as friendly a consumer experience in terms of matchmaking and online play as the consoles have allowed it to be. Our solution here improves that consumer experience overall by a significant margin. We think the benefits we will see are going to far outweigh any of the negatives that seem to be surfacing.

Infinity Ward now has announced that MW2 PC users will be able to use Steamworks.

Steamworks will make it possible for us to have a closer connection to our fans, and enable us to support our community much more than ever before. Steam is the hands down leader in offering a community focused experience on PC and the inclusion of Steamworks has allowed us to deliver the most feature-rich PC version to ever come from Infinity Ward, which at the end of the day will mean the most to our fans.

Has the game gone too far? Leaked footage from France of the upcoming single-player campaign mission game apparently shows that you can aid Russian terrorists in assaulting an airport full of innocent civilians.

Activision UK has put out an explanation saying the leaked footage is real.

Activision US said, The leaked footage was taken from a copy of game that was obtained illegally and is not representative of the overall gameplay experience in Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 features a deep and gripping storyline in which players face off against a terrorist threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse. The game includes a plot involving a mission carried out by a Russian villain who wants to trigger a global war. In order to defeat him, the player infiltrates his inner circle. The scene is designed to evoke the atrocities of terrorism..
