Palm and Sprint have now put a price on the much hyped Palm Pre for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate. It comes with a two-year contract on Sprint’s Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan.

Sprint Fires Staff That Reveals Palm Pre

If you are a staff of Sprint, do not say too much about the upcoming Palm Pre mobile unless you want to get fired. That is according to a leak inside the company. So far three staff have been removed for saying too much about the device.
The iPhone look alike, Palm Pre, will be released June 7th.

Palm Pre Cost $170 To Make
Research group iSuppli has taken apart the soon to be released Palm Pre and found that the mobile only cost $170 to make. ISuppli expects Palm to sell the Pre via Sprint for about $300.
“The similarity in features between the Pre and the iPhone clearly reveals the mark Palm is trying to hit,” said Tina Teng, senior analyst, wireless communications, for iSuppli. Will Apple’s lawyer go after Palm after the release of Pre?
“The use of a multi-touch screen—a key allure of the iPhone—and Palm’s innovative webOS operating system, are likely to allow the pre to appeal to a broad range of consumers, going far beyond the company’s core group of business-oriented customers,” Teng said.
The Palm Pre is said to be released on July 7.

Palm Pre Scheduled For May?

The supposedly “iPhone killer”, Palm Pre is expected to arrive in May. The Sprint exclusive seller for the Pre reveals that Sprint employees will not be able to take leave in May. Previously Palm has said they will release it by June 29th.
