Final Fantasy XIII Reviewed
In Final Fantasy XIII, you will embark on a journey through the cityworld of Cocoon and the outerworld of Pulse. Along the way, you will encounter diverse allies who will fight alongside you. Execute powerful attacks with weapons and magic, and summon the enigmatic Eidolons with an evolved Active Time Battle system. Experience seamless transitions between real time gameplay and in-game cinematics. Do you have the courage to face your destiny?
Here are some early reviews of the game. More later.
1UP (91/100): Like Mass Effect 2, FFXIII seems to be an attempt to answer the question of how to create an RPG for the modern, console-owning masses. Square Enix’s solution is certainly different than BioWare’s, but it’s arguably just as effective in its own way.
GameSpy (90/100): Thank goodness for the battle system, then, because it saves the game while you’re wincing through the saccharine banter and waiting for the training wheels to spin off.
GameSpot (85/100): The most beautiful Final Fantasy game yet is an imperfect but still impressive saga that will touch your heart.
IGN AU (84/100): It’s a massive game with a ridiculous amount of content. That said, bigger isn’t necessarily better. A slightly shorter game with a more unified design might have worked better.
Eurogamer (80/100): Final Fantasy XIII’s is a superb system overall, easily making up what depth it has lost in speed, tactical cunning and moment-to-moment engagement. Some have bemoaned the apparent retreat from XII’s daring reinvention -- I did myself, at first -- but in its way XIII is just as big a step for the party RPG, albeit a simpler and perhaps more palatable one.

PS3 Heavy Rain Rated Highly
How Far Will You Go To Save Someone You Love? Experience a gripping psychological thriller filled with innumerable twists and turns, where choices and actions can result in dramatic consequences. Spanning four days of mystery and suspense, the hunt is on for a murderer known only as the Origami Killer -- named after his macabre calling card of leaving behind folded paper shapes at crime scenes. Four characters, each following their own leads and with their own motives, must take part in a desperate attempt to prevent the killer from claiming a new victim.
Here are some early reviews of the game. More later.
GamePro (100/100): An emotionally engaging thrill-ride from start to finish, Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain is a superbly crafted interactive experience, told expertly through it’s stunning visuals and believable characters.
Boomtown (100/100): An emotionally engaging thrill-ride from start to finish, Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain is a superbly crafted interactive experience, told expertly through it’s stunning visuals and believable characters.
1Up (91/100): One of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had playing a videogame.
Eurogamer (90/100): It may also be the only game you play this year where pulling the trigger makes you really feel something, and I can think of no greater compliment.
IGN (90/100): A hell of an experience. Its controversial control scheme actually works really well in allowing the fantastic story to dictate how events play out, and many of the game’s scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat. It starts slow and the presentation isn’t perfect, but the character development, dialog and story twists will hook you like few games can.
GameSpy (90/100): If you can buy into the idea that the ending you get is your ending, and that your characters are really your characters, then you just might find yourself feeling moved by a videogame.
