Samsung Unveils Galaxy Beam Smartphone With Projector

Samsung has revealed Galaxy Beam with Android 2.3 and a 1GHz dual-core CPU. The smartphone has an integrated projector capable of 15 lumens of brightness, enough to shoot a high definition image that’s up to 50 feet wide.

The Galaxy Beam will be on display at Samsung’s booth at the Mobile World Congress. No release date for this device yet.

During CES 2012 keynote, Samsung unveiled a connected TV with voice and gesture recognition. The Smart TV 2.0 has WiFi-enabled cameras and integrated microphone. You can change channels using your voice or hand gestures.

Samsung, LG, Sony Showing Off Google TV

Three giant TV makers, Samsung, LG and Sony are working on Google TV. Google powered TV will be shown at the consumer electronics show (CES) next week at Las Vegas.
LG will come with passive Cinema 3D capability and 2D to 3D conversion on the fly.

Google TV allows users to access the Internet on TVs, using its popular Chrome browser. In addition, it allows users to search a pay-TV provider’s listings and offers about 150 apps to shuttle people to digital media.

Sony Selling 50% Of LCD Venture To Samsung For $940 Million

Sony, the maker of PS3 and Bravia TV, has agreed to sell 50% stake in an LCD joint venture to Samsung Electronics for $940 million. Sony was negotiating an exit, aiming to switch to cheaper outsourcing for flat screens for its TVs while Samsung pushes ahead with next-gen TV displays.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Out December 15 For $299.99

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus will be selling for $299.99 starting on December 15. The smartphone was revealed in a Hong Kong event previously and it takes full advantage of Android 4 support for facial and voice recognition, Near Field Communications, and high-definition content. The OS will also include better notifications, software navigation buttons, multi-tasking and holographic widgets.

The Galaxy Nexus 5 will feature:

  • a 4.65-inch display powered by a 1.2 GHz processor.
  • redesigned user interface with software navigation buttons and a dedicated recent apps button to make multitasking easy.
  • Face unlock facial recognition system to unlock the Galaxy Nexus.
  • Android Beam tp share Web pages, apps, contacts and YouTube videos with friends by tapping two compatible phones together.
  • Camera with panorama mode, 1080p video capture, zero-shutter lag for instant photo capturing and effects.
  • Cloud services to keep email, contacts, photos, music, browser bookmarks and other data synced to the cloud.
  • Google Music for uploading up to 20,000 songs to the cloud and stream it instantly on Galaxy Nexus and from the Web for free.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus 5 Running On Android 4

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus was revealed in a Hong Kong event and it takes full advantage of Android 4 support for facial and voice recognition, Near Field Communications, and high-definition content. The Galaxy Nexus 5 will feature a 4.65-inch display powered by a 1.2 GHz processor. The phone will be available in the United States, Europe and Asia starting in November. The phone will probably cost around $299 in the United States with a carrier contract.

Samsung Galaxy Note Unveiled

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Note at the IFA mobile trade show in Berlin. It is a new 5.3-inch touchscreen device which is hybrid between a tablet and a phone. The Note comes with a stylus that can be used to take notes or draw, as well as replace the tapping normally done on Android with a finger.

The Note features Samsung’s Super AMOLED screen technology with a sharp 1280 by 800 resolution. The screen also offers a 180 degree viewing angle. It is 9.65mm thick and weighs 178 grams. It has a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, two cameras, can run on HSPA+ and LTE networks and uses the Google Android 2.3 OS.
