Samsung, Sony Launching 3D TV Soon

Samsung will release their extensive 3D TV line this March and starting price is $1,700 for the 46-inch 240Hz CCFL backlit LN46C750. The 55-inch 240Hz LED backlit UN55C9000 will cost $6,999.

Sony plans to launch their new 3D television sets in Japan from 10 June. A 46-inch 3D Sony 3D TV will cost around $3,898. Sony’s TDG-BR100 and TDG-BR50 active shutter glasses will cost about $133

Samsung Introduces Wave Smartphone

Samsung has announced the Wave, new smartphone that uses the Bada operating system. The Wave is a slab-style touch phone that has a 3.3-inch, 800 x 480, super AMOLED display that is smudge resistant. The OS uses push technology to deliver a real-time stream of information to the Wave.

Other features are: 5.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, blink protection and 720p HD video capture, Bluetooth 3.0, 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi, aGPS, FM radio, and an accelerometer. It will support microSD cards up to 32GB, and comes with 8GB on-board storage. The Wave has quad-band GSM/EDGE and HSDPA 900/2100 support. It is also compatible with Samsung’s application store.

Samsung Wave will be in retail on April 2010.

Giorgio Armani Designs Samsung’s GT-V7650 Mobile

Italian fashion house Giorgio Armani teamed up with Samsung Electronics to launch the new Windows Mobile 6.5 GT-V7650 mobile phone in Milan. The smart phone features a 3.5-inch AMOLED display, sliding QWERTY keyboard, 8Gb storage, GPS, 3G, touchscreen, etc. The GT-V7650 will retail at $1,031.

Samsung Adds Touch Of Colour To LCD Monitor

Samsung has revealed the new 70 series LCD monitors with Touch of Color (ToC) design. The new line of LCDs includes the P2070, P2370, and P2370HD. These slim LCD monitors have screen depths of 30 mm for the P2070 and P2370 and 65.5mm for the P2370HD.
The Samsung 70 series features:

  • Thin 30mm screen depth (65.5mm – P2370HD)
  • High contrast ratio of 50,000:1
  • Full HD 1080p (1920×1080) resolution (1600×900 – P2070)

Samsung P2370L LCD Looks Slick And Thin

Samsung’s new slim and good looking LCD (P2370L) features a LED backlight, a depth of just 0.65-inches, LED Blu, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1080p native resolution, 2ms response time, DVI input, a swivel stand and touch sensitive controls.

Samsung Reveals 256GB Solid State Drive

Samsung started mass production high capacity 256GB SSD. With sequential read rates of 220MB/s and sequential write rates of 200MB/s, it can rewrite data faster with erase cycles of 100GBs a minute.

The 256Gb SSD can store 25 HD movies in just 21 minutes, a significant advancement over a 7200rpm HDD, which takes about 70 minutes. It will launch applications ten times faster than the fastest 7200rpm notebook HDD.

Tthe 2.5-inch Samsung 256GB SSD retains the standard 9.5 mm drive thickness and weighs 81 g.

Samsung 256GB Flash SSD With High-Speed Interface

Samsung will release the world’s fastest 2.5 inch 256GB solid state drive (SSD) using SATA II interface. The prototype has read speed of 200M bytes per second and a sequential write speed of 160M bytes per second. This SSD will be available end of this year.

Jim Elliott, vice president, memory marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. said “With development of the 256GB SSD, the notebook PC is on the brink of a second stage of evolution. This change is comparable to the evolution from the Sony Walkman to NAND memory-based MP3 players, representing an initial step in the shift to thinner, smaller SSD-based notebooks with significantly improved performance and more than ample storage”.
