The Hobbit Will Sound Better With 64-Speaker Atmos Sound
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is going to be shot at 48 frames-per-second, and now the film will sound better using Dolby’s ultra-intense new Atmos system. Dolby Atmos will allow sound designers to map up to 128 independent elements to up to 64 locations in a theater. The technology is much better than the 7.1 channel surround sound available now. The film comes out on December 14th.
