US Place 14 Countries On Airport Threat List
Due to recent Christmas security threat incidents on inbound flight to the US, the government has place 14 suspect countries under airport watch. The countries are Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Lebanon and Iraq.
Travellers from these 14 countries flying to the US will go through body pat-downs, advanced screening and property inspections.

Why is the UK not on this list? It is common knowledge that the UK is a hotbed of Islamic extremism. It has experienced a major terrorism attack in the last few years, propagated by UK citizens and residents; It’s airports have also had several security / terror alerts. It even has had it’s nationals incarcerated in the infamous Guantanamo Bay , as high risk terrorists. Surely this makes it far more of a risk than somewhere like Nigeria, who has only earned a place on this list on the basis of one bumbling incident by a UK based student who just happened to pass through one of its airports and has never , ever been linked to any form of terrorism. In fact based on that criteria, France should be on the list (the “shoe bomber” originated his journey there), as should Germany (the Lockerbie bomber started his journey there). Lets have some consistency here and not just irrational fear fuelled by xenophobia and ignorance.

I agree with Jane. We need to have UK, France, Germany, Israel, Italy and Spain in the list of countries whose checkpoints at the airports have failed. How many of the incidents do we have from the list of 14 countries in the past whose security has failed?

Why is it only Islam that is the target? Why are 12 of the countries Muslim countries? I am certain that there are violent extremists in many religions, not just Islam…
